Noticed: Romi Ceramics

by Nicole Bemboom

On first thought, porcelain makes us think “delicate,” “pale,” “precious,” and maybe even “Grandma.” Designer Romi Hefetz is out to change out minds. The pieces she handmakes in her studio in New York have a really refreshing chunky playfulness.

Using a palette of modern colors and an unexpected matte texture she brings a really fresh quality to this Before Common Era material.

The absolutely sexy contrast between the glossy black and matte white on this bowl set makes it a perfect addition to any tablescape.

Or, how about a mini sculpture for the salt and pepper shaker collectors among us?
